Herbalism

Maud Freemantle

Most complaints – physical and/or emotional - that you take to a G.P. can be successfully and safely treated by a medical herbalist.

A herbalist has been trained to use the same diagnostic skills as an orthodox practitioner, but he/she assesses each person’s complaint as it pertains to the individual. The symptoms are part of the consideration, but the underlying cause of the symptoms are sought: the weakened organ or system of the body can then be treated with medicinal plants. A return to health can be achieved once the body’s ability to help itself is restored.

The herbal remedy will thus be tailor-made and may be dispensed as a liquid tincture and/or dried herbs to be prepared as a tea. Creams or tablets may be recommended. Treatment is suitable for all ages.

Appointments

Initial consultations last up to an hour and a half and will attempt to construct a complete picture of the whole being and will detail: your own and your family’s past medical history; your lifestyle and diet; emotional and spiritual issues. Physical examinations, e.g. blood pressure reading, may be performed.

Two weeks later a follow-up appointment, lasting approximately half an hour, checks progress and addresses any concerns. Further appointments depend on the nature of the illness being treated.

Advice and herbal medication is given in full consideration of any other medication/dietary supplementation already being taken.
